Borders, foreigners and migration are the phenomena of the modern world, indeed and these expressions are discussed worldwide. The trend of the last decades, as we could see, was the weakening of the borders (at least between the European countries).
On the other hand, past few years have opened numerous problems related to immigration and, consequently, to the admission of the foreigners into the community of the citizens. However, these problems are not entirely new.
The searching of the best solution of the problems connected with the protection of boundaries, with the admission of foreigners and generally with the migration (both emigration and immigration) were relevant even in the ancient Rome, and further also throughout the history of the Czech lands, the Czechoslovak Republic, or, of course, of other countries. The presented book addresses the above-mentioned questions from the point of view of legal history and follows the chronological, as well as geographical, approach.
