The paper deals with the issue of bilingual education of Czech/Slovak - German children in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and German-speaking countries, which at the time of globalization and free movement of persons within the EU has growing practical potential. The initial assumption is that intercultural education stresses the importance of the role mother and second language and supports bilingual education.
Preliminary studies based on information available in foreign-language literature intend to analyse factors contributing to language acquisition / learning and those influencing psychosocial and cognitive development of children.
