Abstract
The author is dealing with a genre of biography in a context of the professional history in his text. He emphasizes often not clearly defined borders of the genre in the contrast to the prevailing consensus about writing historical biographies.
The autor shows on the example of the chapter "second life" the possible epistemological consequences of non-reflected usage of the term "second life". The research is based on biographies of historians published in Czech historiography in last fifteen years.
Biography is presented as a genre inclinable to be a residue of the correspondence theory of truth. In the second part of the text auhor suggests three spaces, where historians could create an inovative methodological tools for writing biography as the genre, which is able to accept contemporary historographical concepts
