The presentation describes an electronic tool designed for the analysis of spelling in Middle English. It is based on the Linguistic Atlas of Early Middle English (LAEME).
The application includes additional database tables created from the data available in LAEME and an interface enabling comparison of texts in terms of grapheme inventory and occurrence of graphemes in given positions. The use of an experimental version of the tool is demonstrated on a short analysis of selected graphemes in the texts of the Medieval verse sermon Poema Morale.
