The article introduces in detail methods for evaluating movement response of small animals (specifically reptiles and amphibians) to changes in their body orientation. The camera subsystem of revolvable platform offering a record of anatomical angles of body segment movements in space.
A gyro accelerometer system allowing for measuring angles of the platform orientation in space. A software has been designed in MatLab (R) to record videos and preprocess kinematic motion data for further study.
Methods and new movement parameters have been tested for measuring and evaluating head rotation of small animals A part of the work's results is thus a presentation of a method for monitoring and preprocessing animal's head compensatory movements. The assumption for the future is the application of methods and movement parameters for studying the function of the nervous system and its evolution.
