This paper deals with a phenomenon of a social exclusion and its relationship to transport/mobility characteristics (especially accessibility). Transport characteristics are examined in this context both as one of the possible causes of the social exclusion of inhabitants in certain localities and at the same time as a negative consequence of this phenomenon that deepens the exclusion of the region.
The aim of the article is to explain how are the characteristics of transport/mobility together with other factors concerned in process of social exclusion. This article brie- y outlines the development of the concepts related to the themes of social exclusion and discusses dierent research approaches the author denes the problems of transport related social exclusion and presents some researches made mostly in Anglo-Saxon countries where the issue is systematically investigated.
