Pupils' misconceptions about choropleth and proportional symbol maps

Abstract

Pupils' ability to work with map is often taken for granted and is not specifically developed. However, as experts point out and a research among Czech pupils confirmed, actually many of them have misconceptions about thematic maps, even about choropleth and proportional symbol maps.

Hence, the article aim is to familiarize teachers with them and to propose means of preventing their formation/working with held misconceptions.
