The Evolution of Work Hours in the Czech Kingdom

Publication at Faculty of Law |
2017

Abstract

This contribution deals with the length of work hours in chosen periods of medieval and modern times. We analyse work hours in the mining code, freemen service in the Kalstein Castle, and serfs who laboured in the lord's household or at work on his domain.

The absolute state in modern age developed safety regulations mostly because of general ambition to protect vulnerable classes of inhabitants, such as children and women.
