The study analyzes predominantly friendly Czechoslovak attitudes towards the unification of Germany in 1990, also on the basis of broader historical contexts and the analysis of relations with both German states in the 1970s and 1980s. Attention is also paid to the discussion of the German question in the dissident circles, including the dialogue of Czech and East German dissidents on this topic.
Even after 1990, the author does not limit himself to the diplomatic dimension of this issue and examines his wider, then largely positive, response in the Czechoslovak society (polls, media reports).
