The Czech translation of originally German-written biography of Ferdinand I of Habsburg by the Austrian historian Alfred Kohler (published in 2003). It describes the life of this monarch from his childhood in Castile to his reign over Central Europe, as well as other questions concerning his public and private activities (politics, religion, art, family).
It is the first biography of this important personality of the European history published in Czech. The translation of Kohler's book is accompanied by a chronological summary and a complementary essay (as an afterword) about the image of Ferdinand I in the Czech historiography (both written by the translator Karel Pacovský).
