Abstract
The monograph covers education of children with type 1 diabetes and their parents. It includes procedures for insulin therapy, rational diet, selfmonitoring, and recommendations for common and special situations in the lives of children with diabetes.
It widens the theme gradually in steps so that it is easy to understand. It uses color-coding to divide the topics.
It also includes a description of the initiation of insulin pump therapy and a sketch of the complex psychology and social contexts of diabetes treatment. For the most experienced patiens are the chapters on technical aids and a summary of emergency equipment.
The publication is supplemented with an educational DVD for young children with a five-part explanation of the nature of Type 1 diabetes.
