Evolutionary framework sees sexual preference disorders as "sexual variants" - adaptive behavioral strategies with innate predispositions that were selected throughout evolutionary history of human kind to increase reproductive success of our ancestors. In the following text, the theoretical basis of Evolutionary sexuology is described.
Later the approach is applied to the concrete examples of sexual preference disorders (e.g. pedophilia, hebephilia, sexual agression or fetishism). Also, we point out that the most important human-specific adaptation is flexibility of the sexual motivation system and its propensity to be modified by key-factors during the sensitive periods of individuals' development.
