The article deals with spiritual care provided by religious communities (churches and religious societies), respectively their members in non-ecclesiastical institutions for the benefit of all those who ask for it. This is a spiritual care provided outside the area of own structures and institutions of religious communities.
Spiritual care is provided on request and has no missionary character. In the Czech Republic, it is protected by the provisions of constitutional law of Art. 15 and 16 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.
It is provided largely in the armed forces and prison facilities, and is being built in hospitals, social facilities, police and other institutions.
