The goal of this presentation is to analyse the anti-communist agenda in Czech and Slovak punk songs and in the subculture in general. I am focusing on its forms, prevalence, sources and relevance since 1980s until present.
In the first part the historical genesis of punk subculture in the 1980s and its relation to the Czechoslovak establishment will be discussed. The focal point of this part is to determine whether the anti-communism in songs is merely a reflection of our political history and experiences with Bolshevik regime or it is a systematic disagreement with the ideology of communism? In the second part I will reflect on changes in the punk subculture after the year 1989, analyse new kind of relationships and political connections inside the punk subculture.
I will focus on following questions: What type of communism is opposed in punk subculture? Is there a knowledge about diversities in socialist/communist political philosophy in punk subculture?
