Athanasius of Alexandria's Triodion Homilies in the 14th century Bulgarian Homiliaries

Abstract

Triodion Panegeric (Hilandar MS, Ohio, HM.SMS.404) whose existence is related to the Patriarch Euthymius of Tarnovo and which were later included in certain Bulgarian, Serbian, and sometimes Russian miscellanea up until the 17th century. To have this many texts is untypical neither for church typica, nor for the known Greek Homiliaries, and should be considered a unique feature of the Panegirics whose origin goes back to the miscellanea produced in the circle of scribes in Tarnovo.
