Publication at Faculty of Education |
2017

Abstract

Natural literacy is currently a very discussed topic. This book focuses on laying the foundations in pre-school age.

The problem is approached with the knowledge that nursery teachers usually do not have a science education. It takes into account the developmental specifics of preschool children, such as the fact that they perceive non-verbal communication often more than verbal communication.

The first part of the book presents briefly the special objectives of science education, the didactic principles of science education of this age group and the recommended means. Attention is paid to four areas set up by a team of experts who worked on the Minimum Natural Science Literacy (NÚV, 2015) in 2015, namely: learning natural sciences, promoting interest in exploring the world, developing a positive relationship to nature and learning by play; experience.

In the second half of the book, certified activities that develop natural literacy and which give teachers in kindergartens enough inspiration are included.
