Abstract

The article focuses on history of course evaluations in European universities. It explores how university students judge their teacher's performance.

The university evaluations have their history in many different countries; we explored examples from the Federal Republic of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Russian Federation in several historic periods. It analyses in which moment the feedback becomes the source of anarchy.

It explored different criteria for evaluations depending on different types of schools: private and state, technical universities and schools of humanities, it recalls cases when the evaluations became the mean of personal revenge, or the way to press on teacher. The university evaluations form a completely new phenomenon in the universities, which are located in European coutries, affected by their socialistic and totalitarian past.
