This thesis is focused on history of nationalist movement around Stepan Bandera and Ukrainian fight for self-determination in the first half of 20th century and also on legacy of this movement in present Ukrainian politics and society. Thesis chronologically describes origins and creation of this movement, its development and breakup into two hostile factions, its important role in World War II and also its decline at the begginning of Cold War.
In its final part the thesis deals with the topic of perception of this movement in Ukraine after its decline, because this question is still very controversial.
