Abstract
The paper deals with historical, geopolitical and political context of the so called Arab Spring in Bahrain. It focuses on authoritarian character of the regime, on demographic distribution of the two main Islamic sects and on wider international conflict among Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United States over control of the small Gulf state.
