This case report is an example of a serious septic condition in an immunocompromised patient. Urosepsis was complicated by the development of infectious endocarditis on the subtly changed mitral valve.
Cardiac complications of IE are common and affect up to half of the patients. Especially the development of heart failure, which is still the most common cause of the death today, is concerned.
Fatal development usually occurs due to valvular regurgitation caused by structural damage to the valve or its hinging apparatus. Rarely, there is also a perforation of the valve leaflet that has occurred in our patient.
