The book by Slovak historian Emília Hrabovec Slovakia and the Holy See in the Context of the Vatican's Eastern Policy (1962-1989) focuses on a topic that has not been systematically dealt with in Czech and Slovak historiography - the transformation of the relation between the Holy See and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (the Vatican Eastern politics) with an emphasis on Slovakia since the opening of the Second Vatican Council in 1962 to the breakup of the Soviet bloc in 1989.
