Eduard Štorch was a well-known writer, teacher and reformer of history education. The latter of his public vocations led him to design two graphic posters as school teaching aids.
These "journeys of history", painted by Oldřich Cihelka, are captioned the Journey of History According to the Christian Reckoning of Years (1937) and the Development of Social Orders (1948). The present study draws attention not only to their sources of inspiration and the underlying philosophy of history, but also to the final likeness the posters took following necessary concessions that were made to the reviewers' opinions.
It deals with analyzing Štorch's both published works and, more importantly, his unpublished literary estate to show how the two "graphic tables" fit into the author's didactic beliefs and evolution of thought. Though not unknown to professional public, the posters have not yet been touched upon by Štorch scholars from this research perspectiv.
