Abstract
Diabetology is a rapidly changing branch of medicine. Congresses and studies published this year (2017) have confirmed the crucial role of gliflozins and incretin analogs, with both classes of antidiabetics moving up in the algorithm of diabetes therapy.
Treatment with concentrated insulin is gaining widespread acceptance while markedly reducing the risk of hypoglycemia. Numerous novel classes of drugs are currently under investigation and new therapeutic principles are expected to be introduced in the near future.
