Carl Philipp Gottlieb von Clausewitz (1780-1831). Prussian general and inspiration by history

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2017

Abstract

The author deals with the personality and above all with the work of Carl von Clausewitz, who was an experienced Prussian soldier and thinker of the 19th century, one of the most respected classics of the military strategy, whose work still provides the cornerstone for Western thinking about war. Individual parts of the text beyond Clausewitz's life itself describe the major events of the time that influenced his life and thought.

Above all, however, the paper focuses on developments in warfare and the main ideas of Clausewitz's work, which are still relevant to today's military theory and strategy. In the final part, the author draws attention to how Clausewitz can be used in today's struggle for defense of the country, and calls for inspiration with the timeless parts of his work, which in many ways remains up to date.
