Abstract

Advanced methods of optical spectroscopy were applied to study optical properties of semiconductor and lanthanide-doped up-converting nanoparticles and their enhancement by interaction with localized surface plasmons in metal nanoparticles. External quantum yield of luminescence was determined using a special set-up with an integrating sphere, while the absorption cross-section was obtained by intensity dependence of luminescence kinetics.

Single-nano-object spectroscopy methods were applied to study scattering and luminescence of nanocomposites of gold nanorods with nanoparticles.
