Galician Refugees in Czech Interwar Narration and Literary Context

Abstract

This article deals with the topic of forced refugees from Galicia during the First World War, as was reflected in the selected titles of the Czech literature in the interwar period. The main aim is to describe frequent features of the literary representation of the interaction between the refugees and the host society.

Within the context of these relations, this paper also focuses on the literary image of Galician refugee as the character of stories and memoirs which gives the indication of distinctive narration techniques as well as of the stereotypical notions regarding these refugees.
