Writing in Czech as a Foreign and Second Language - the blended learning method

Abstract

The paper presents an extensive questionnaire survey on the processes and strategies of writing in the first and second languages. Furthermore, the results of a qualitative analysis of explanatory and argumentative essays collected during regular lessons of writing and written by university students of Czech as a foreign or second language.

These results are then confronted with the analysis of the written work of an analogous group of respondents subjected to blended learning. Text analyzes focused on information, structure, cohesion and coherence, on grammar-lexical aspects and on the benefits or disadvantages of blended learning for writing development.
