The present article deals with the finds of Greek coins in transalpine Europe. basing mainly on comaprison between the cenrtral-european and north-Italian facies it divides the influx of greek coins into three chronological horizons. The role of Northern Italy as the mediator of these contacts is clear mainly in the middle and the latest of these horizons.
The analysis shows that the explanation of the processes which brought the Greek coins accross the Alps lies beyond the sphere of the evenemential.
