Abstract

Associational life in the town of Louny in the second half of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century experienced "Golden Age". During this time, there were over seventy societies, which offered various types of spending pastime, in the provincial town of Louny.

The net of social relations was still more difficult and often narrowly connected with the communal policy. The town is interesting by its geographical location at the Czech-German linguistic border of the NW Bohemia, which became evident by more intensive support of Czech minorities in the surrounding, mostly German villages.

The book contains more than eighty historical photographs and drawings. It contributes to deeper knowledge of associational life in Bohemia because similar principles were common in many other Bohemian towns at that time.
