Polemic over the codification of Justinian: Several hypothesis about the form of the first manuscripts of Digest

Abstract

Codification of the emperor Justinian is as monumental, as many of his other completed projects. The author reflects on how the Digest as a book, ie. a manuscript, could have physically, in its original form, published in the year 533, look like.

This aspect could have had an impact on the fate of the Digest, which soon fell into oblivion.
