The archaeological colloquium Towards Iron Ages: Southern Central Asia and Afghanistan in the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age took place on the 23th June 2017 at the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University. It offered an opportunity for scholars to share their results from their research and exchange ideas of the following research goals in the discussed area.

The participants are long term interested in the Central Asia (Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan). Beside the archaeological topics, which represented the main part of the colloquium, there were presented also the papers focused on the conservation of the artefacts and sites, and on the paleogenetic analysis.

This approach allowed the interconnection of these related fields and the interdisciplinary discussion. Chronologically the colloquium was focused on the Periods of the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Ages.

The papers were presented by the scholars from Czech Republic (Institute of Classical Archaeology, University of Arts at Charles University and Institute of Archaeology of the CAS) and France (Délégation Archéologique Francaise en Afghanistan) with the formal support of the Embassy of Afghanistan. -Participants agreed to meet again in Paris in the near future to continue the discussion and strengthen mutual collaboration.
