Where two are fighting, the third wins. Emergence of the ancient Macedonian kingdom

Abstract

The article aims to introduce a dynamic period of the 6./5. ct. BCE, in which the ancient Macedonian kingdom of Philip II. and Alexander the Great emerged from a local dynasty around Vergina.

The events of this period were closely connected to a bigger geopolitical situation, the Persian wars.
