Abstract

This volume authored and edited by the Principal Investigator in connection with an Exhibtiion he curated at the Czech National Library in the Klementinum, with the choice of exhibits reflecting his own research interests. Substantial sections are devoted to the textual aspects of the odes of St.

Gregory of Narek, the music of the Armenian Hymnal and its neumatological aspects, including hybrid systems entailing interactions of Armenian notational systems with the Middle Byzantine system of neumes employed for notating the music of odes, editiones principes of important works, and detailed descriptions as well as specialised chapters. The volume was produced in close collaboration with the National Libraries of the Czech Republic and Armenia, and was associated with an Exhibition curated by the author, including early and rare hymnals, ode-books, manuscripts and facsimiles.
