The set of six partbooks represents rather tiny collection of 16 Latin motets and polyphonic devotional songs that was bound secondarily in the 19th century. Once separate sheets of paper of various datation and origins belonged to the Augsburg citizen, bibliophile and music collector Johann Heinrich Herwart (1520-1583).
Among the compositions preserved in this collection can be found a funeral motet to commemorate Bohemian and Hungarian queen Anna of Jagiello (1503-1547).
