The article presents principles of the effective multidisciplinary team ("MDT") collaboration in the residential social services for the elderly. It offers support structure of questions and instructions facilitating the functioning of MDT.
The starting point is the reflection of the experience in The Sue Ryder's nursing home. It reflects transformation from a linear organizational structure to a MDT with a functional organizational structure and gradually strengthening elements of the matrix structure.
Managerial perspective is applied when reflecting and evaluating the functioning of the MDT Effectiveness of the MDT collaboration was emphasized. The suggested Instruction and Question support structure helps teams expediently spend their energy when fulfilling the organization's vision of care - the person centred approach (care).
Theoretical concepts of system learning, learning organization, human care, and multidisciplinary teams are the backing for practice and in the reflection of experience.
