Abstract
The chapter analyses possibilities of escapes from private international law rules. It is concentrated on the escape clauses, their notion and legislative formulations, with some practical cases in which they were or were not used.
The cited case-law was selected from the practice of Czech and UK courts and the Court of Justice of the EU.
