Abstract

This paper shortly introduces both already realized and planned questionnaire surveys. Our research is carried out in three phases, which aim 1) to verify the theoretically assumed relationships between parent's behavior in childhood and the level of self-compassion in adulthood; 2) to compare the level of self-compassion in selected clinical samples and in healthy controls; 3) to assess the effect of selected therapeutic procedures, programs or interventions on the development of self-compassion in participants of selected program.

We suppose that our studies will help to understand the importance of self-compassion in maintaining mental health and in the etiology of many mental disorders. The results should also help to understand the mechanism of psychotherapeutic change in the studied disorders and bring the possibility to better focus and increase the efficiency of relevant therapeutic procedures.

At the same time, this paper will invite colleagues and students to join our research project.
