Abstract
Overall increased resistance to common antibiotics and increased incidence and severity of infectious complications after transrectal prostate biopsy force us to search for new antibiotic prophylaxis regimens. The change of antibiotic prophylaxis before transrectal prostate biopsy (with complete restriction of fluoroquinolones) in our department led to significant increase in incidenceand severity of infectious complications in 2016.
Recurrence of fluoroquinolones reduced incidence and severity of infectious complications in 2017 to previous levels.
