In this paper we present the first results of research in which we investigated what types of reclaimed forests people prefer for recreation purposes. We focus in particular on forest established in localities of former open-cast coal mines.
We investigated environmental preferences towards six types of reclaimed and spontaneously grown forest employing its visual representations. We estimate, how much are preferences affected by the type of forest management, age of forests and familiarity of these forests to population that participated on the survey.
