In this article I have examined several factors that had influenced the history of Bahá'í faith in Iraq since its origin. Despite the ban on promoting the Bahá'í faith in Ottoman Iraq, small community of Bahá'ís managed to survive up to British mandate which granted them religious freedom and as a result they began to attract more adherents.
However the faith in Iraq never reached such major numbers like in Iran. The situation of Bahá'í s began to deteriorate gradually after the coup in 1958 which led to fall of Iraqi monarchy and establishment of republic.
After 2003 there was only a slight improvement of Bahá'í situation, although their local spiritual assemblies have been restored after more than thirty years, they still lack any form of legal recognition.
