Serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2018

Abstract

An overview article summarises available recent data regarding all the relevant atypical formations in the fallopian tubes, including serous tubal intraepithelial carcinoma (STIC), which have or can have a link to development of pelvic high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC). It focuses on the ways to detect atypical and precancerous lesions and intraepithelial fallopian tubes carcinoma using cytology, histology, immunohistochemistry, serous markers and imaging methods.

It also summarises prophylaxis methods against development of STIC or HGSC and available findings about surgical staging, adjuvant chemotherapy and monitoring women with isolated STIC without a diagnosed parallel pelvic HGSC.
