Sokol in Pilsen was founded one year after the establishment of Tělocvičná Jednota Pražská (Prague gymnastic society), later Prague Sokol, in October 1863. MUDr.
Vilém Šel was elected the very first chairman, his deputy became MUDr. Franti šek Kouba.
Arrival of music composer and gymnastic instructor Hynek Palla from Prague to Pilsen was important backup for Pilsner Sokols. They used different mostly restaurant ballrooms for their gymnastic exercises till June 1886, when new Sokol building including gymnasium was opened.
