Education as One of the Factors Influencing Life Cycle

Publication at Faculty of Humanities |

Abstract

The aim of this report is to highlight the importance of education as one of the factors influencing human life. The education from early childhood influences the further development of a person, his/her participation in the labour market and the retirement age.

Ensuring quality education is one way of preventing inequalities throughout the life cycle. The report is based on OECD perspectives and recommendations on inequalities in aging populations.

In its documents, the OECD refers to differences in approach to life cycle inequalities and proposes governmental and policy measures to mitigate inequalities. The challenges proposed by the OECD do not only concern education.

From the perspective of the OECD, it is necessary to focus on all areas that affect the whole life cycle. In addition to education, these areas include social security and health care.

All these areas affect the lifestyle of the individual and his/her participation in society. To ensure equal access to aging and issues related to inequalities during aging, intersectoral cooperation is needed.

The introduction of the report will address the challenges and recommendations of the OECD. In the next part, the report will be based on the presentation of the participants of the High Level Conference on Policies for Equal Aging: A Life-Course Approach.
