The contribution will present results of our last anthropological and archeological research. Its aim is to bring some dates to the discussion about possible function of specific kinds of tools known as "ice skates" in past European societies.

The project involves the production of experimental tools and their comparison with a collection of artifacts from The city of Prague Museum. We have started the project with artifacts from different locations of Prague, the collection contains 31 presumed bone skates from different time periods.

The goal of this research is to expose the functions of tools and artifacts, which are previously unclear, by use of experimental archeology and use-wear analysis, primarily for artefacts known as bone skates (or bone ice skates), which are classified only according to their shape (and often incorrectly). In many foreign countries, the method and application of microwear analysis is increasingly popular.

However, in the Czech Republic, it is largely overlooked. Therefore, we would like to extend the sample of possible contact materials and contribute to the progress of microwear analysis in Czech Republic.
