In the anticolonial novels written by Sub-Saharan authors in French (in fifties), the reader can find two types of feminine characters: western woman and African woman. The second belongs to the forgotten past, represents the human simplicity and the powerlessness in the story, stays in the state of primitive humanity unlike the European woman who symbolizes the power, the domination and the promise of the better future.

She is the new modern woman and the turning point in the life of the main character, the young African.
