Reflections on new trends and innovations in the social work professionalization in the Czech Republic return to basic questions - for example in the area of professional education. According to Greenwood, the profession is generally characterized by five fundamental attributes: the existence of systematic theory (and methodology), authorities recognized by clients, community-recognized authorities, code of ethics and professional culture (professional responsibility).
Similarly, Weiss-Gal and Welbourne define the attributes of social workers in relation to the profession. They appoint professional autonomy, a uniformly defined knowledge base and professional education.
The current legislation also enables graduates of other educational fields or programmes to perform social work. However, social work is not a profession simply because it is based on theory and research, but also because it is governed by values and ethics.
Professional identity is an important factor that has implications for everyday work. What is the current situation - qualification profiles of social workers in the Czech Republic? Discussion on this subject and the related questions will bring the following post.
