Abstract
The contribution deals with the past, present and future of state administration in the environmental protection of the Czech Republic, especially from the legal point of view. There are not only critical description and evaluation of the communist time of development, but it shows some problems and shortages of the actual (present) legal model.
It deals with all the levels of decision making (central, regional and local) as well as the division of the administrative bodies to common and special.
