Teaching and learning closely related languages has many advantages, but sometimes there are also complicating factors. The poster shows typical Russian-speaking students' mistakes in syntax and morphology resulting from negative transfer of the Russian language.
The data was taken from the Czech corpus CZESL, and the poster reflects on the reasons for inter-lingual influence and offers ways to didactically apply the similarity of two languages; in other words, a contrastive approach to teaching closely related languages. The final part of the poster contains a contrastive analysis of Czech textbooks for Slavic-speaking students.
