Hortus in Roman villas in the province of Gallia from architectonical and iconographic perspective

Abstrakt

Hortus, the idea of this rather small area within the Roman villa, designated as a place for rest and contemplation did not change a lot during the Roman era. This paper deals with the importance of the architectural and iconographic point of view on this specific part of the villa and also attempts to answer questions whether it is possible to confront and identify how historical, iconographic and archaeological sources are related with it and how they affect the overall picture on Roman gardens in province of Gallia.
