St. Thomas Aquinas, with great care, discusses with the fathers of the Eastern Church, but they are still the fathers of the undivided Church.

Thomas did not know Greek language, and therefore he was compelled to use quotations selected by certain Nicholas of Durazzo. Unfortunately, these quotations were mostly falsified.

However, this fact does not underestimate Thomas's approach to the seemingly author of quotes. Thomas' book is also interesting in that it contains a brief but humorous description of how a good translation of a foreign language should look like. "Contra ..." is also a beautiful example of what a polemical work should look like.

At the same time, according to a concise comparison of Pasquale Porro, it is also a beautiful example of a new genre of ecclesial literature - "Theology of Equivocation"
